the habit

Possible medical based reasons for ice chewing.

the habit

Postby lateforthesky » Wed Apr 21, 2004 12:28 pm

I found out I was anemic a couple years into my ice chewing binge..... I'd steal the "well steeped" ice cubes out of my husband's cup (because they had the most wonderful crunch). I found out I had some serious health issues that were causing the anemia and had major surgery to correct them. I never chewed ice after the surgery. The need just wasn't there. The surgery corrected the problems AND I went on iron supplements. Not only is the need (habit) not there, I simply CANNOT chew it anymore, it is intolerable.

Strange.

Lately I have been really tired. It has affected my performance on the soccer field and in living my life. I want to sleep all the time. I am also having trouble falling asleep. ????
