Possible medical based reasons for ice chewing.

Any Suggestions?

Hello. I am a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. My roommate has an addiction to ice. This scares me because I am worried that she will develop some serious medical conditions, or may already have some! I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions about how to break this bad habit. We go to the dinning hall and she gets ice, we play a sport here and she even eats the ice from her ice bags after she uses them on her legs!! Not only is this disgusting but I think that it is also unhealthy.

please reply I am very concerned and so happy to see such a support system out there.

Thanks,

worried and lost freshman

WELL, I THINGK U SHOULD FIRST TELL HER TO BLEND HER ICE BEFORE EATING TO PREVENT ANY DAMAGE TO HER TEETH. TRUST ME I HAVE ALREADY BROKEN OFF PIECES OF MY TEETH FROM SIMPLY CHEWING ICE!!! THEN CHECK IF SHE HAS LOW IRON, BUT I DON'T THINK ITS DANGEROUS I MEAN I LOVE ICE ALSO
I love iceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
