Could chewing so much ice cause internal damage?

Possible medical based reasons for ice chewing.

Could chewing so much ice cause internal damage?

Just curious--- since I seem to be frequently getting sick (colds, fever blisters, bronchitis, fatigue, shortness of breath, even depression), I just wonder if ice is the culprit or is my sickness causing my ice chewing. Any thoughts? :(
