I've been eating ice since I was quite young. Back then I used to put a few cubes in a cup and chew or suck on it for an hour or so. I'm 19 now, and I eat a TON of ice. I prefer to have my ice cubes only half frozen; the crunching aspect doesn't matter to me and I love the texture of a slush cube or of an ice cube filled with water. I have 2 regular ice cube trays that hold 14 cubes each, and I often get into a looping pattern where I:
-fill a tray so each cube is about 2/3 full (just so it freezes faster) and put it in the freezer
-wait 30-45 minutes for it to half freeze
-take it out and put in the second one at the same time
-eat the entire tray of ice

Last Christmas vacation I stuck a paper to the freezer and started marking down each tray of ice that I ate. I averaged around 15 trays per day

I've heard that iron deficiencies can cause people to crave ice, but I don't have any of the other symptoms for that. I'm just a bit curious to know if this happens to be a warning sign for anything. Can anyone give me some clues as to what else could cause this?
